THE NEW SERIES OFFERS AN EXCLUSIVE
LOOK AT BOBBY BROWN AND HIS LIFE UNSCRIPTED
LOS ANGELES - September
15, 2004 - Bravo partners with B2 Entertainment
and Bobby Brown's Brownhouze Entertainment for
the much-anticipated unscripted series
"Being Bobby Brown." The ten episode
one-hour series will explore the life of the
Grammy-winning performer as he faces transition
and moves to put his life and career back on
track. The series is slated to premiere on Bravo
by second quarter 2005.
The series follows Brown, his wife, pop
superstar Whitney Houston and his extended
family over the course of six months as they put
their respective lives back together. The series
will also demystify Brown's relationships with
Houston; their daughter, Bobbi Kristina; his
children from previous relationships, La Princia
and Bobby Jr.; and his brother Tommy, Bobby's
personal manager.
"'Being Bobby Brown' will allow the public
to see Brown outside the context of a pop icon
and bad boy, rather they'll witness an artist
striving to clean up his life for his future and
the future of his family," said Lauren
Zalaznick, President, Bravo. "Bravo is
committed to providing programming that goes
deep into the internal worlds of creative
people."
Tracey Baker, executive producer for B2
Entertainment added: "On the one side there
is Bobby as he is portrayed in the media. On the
flip side is Bobby as a person. This show, shot
cinema verit?style, is an introspective look at
Bobby Brown the husband, father and friend. This
is his story, told in his voice. Viewers can
decide for themselves about what kind of man
they think Bobby Brown really is."
One of the hottest R&B stars of the late
'80s and early '90s, Brown is credited for
popularizing New Jack Swing, which is hybrid
style of R&B or soul music combined with Rap
or Hip-Hop rhythms. A founding member of New
Edition, Brown left the group in 1986 to embark
on a solo career. Brown's second solo album,
"Don't Be Cruel," which was released
in 1988, landed him on the cutting-edge of
modern R&B and spawned the no. 1 hit
"My Prerogative," the ballad "Roni,"
and "Every Little Step," which earned
him a Grammy in 1989 for Best Rhythm and Blues
Vocal Performance, Male. Brown's other hits
include the "Ghostbusters II" theme
"On Our Own," "She Ain't Worth
It," "Humpin'Around," "Good
Enough," "Get Away," and
"That's the Way Love Is."
"Being Bobby Brown" is co-produced by
B2 Entertainment and Brownhouze Entertainment
for Bravo. Tracey Baker is executive producer
and Wanda Shelley will produce for B2
Entertainment. Bobby Brown and his brother Tommy
Brown are co-executive producers of the series.
Frances Berwick and Rachel Smith are executive
producers for Bravo. Christopher Tricarico and
Darin Chavez of KMZ Rosenman brokered the deal
on behalf of B2 and Brownhouze, and will also
executive produce the series.
